Finding a moment for some quality time to spend with yourself can be challenging, especially with exams coming up and busy schedules. We tend to forget about our most important relationship – with ourselves.

Taking yourself on a solo date is a beautiful way to reconnect with your inner self as well as slow down for a bit. So why not treat yourself to one today? We have prepared some ideas to help you have the most beneficial bank holiday this season.

Why not see some of the newly released movies at the cinema? Expand your horizons a little and try watching a movie you would never choose. When you’re by yourself, you can be as spontaneous and free from expectations as you wish. Maybe choose The Little Mermaid or The Super Mario Bros. Movie? It’s a great way to reconnect with your inner child and have a bit of a laugh. Go all the way – and treat yourself to popcorn and some snacks. No one’s going to know.

If movies are not your thing, then maybe a picnic? It doesn’t have to be anything big, simply grab a blanket, pop into Tesco for a meal deal, and go to a park. Treat that as a chance to connect with your surroundings. My favorite way to do this is to come up with a funny and surreal backstory for the people passing by. Or grab a favorite book and fully immerse yourself in the story.

But what if the weather is just horrible and there’s no way you’re stepping outside of your flat? Plan a solo camping trip! Just open Google Maps, think about the city you want to visit, and plan, plan, and plan. Look for photo reviews, TikToks, and recommendations. Create a dedicated Word document and add photos, links, and anything else you come up with. The best part? You don’t even have to go on that trip. But after all of this planning, we guarantee you’ll want to add that to your schedule.

If you can’t afford to go on holiday anytime soon, have a theme night at home. Pick a country you would like to recreate in your own living room, search for themed background music and dress up! Maybe order a takeaway or go even further, cook something yourself. (Tip: Maybe you connect that with planning a solo trip to go on later…Just saying.)

And lastly, have an unplugged evening and take yourself to bed. Light the candles, put on some music *The Weeknd has entered the chat* and make it romantic. Why not read our article about sex toys and inspire yourself?  [LINK THE PLEASE] Get to know what turns you on, and take your time – there’s no rush.

When it comes to self-dates, the only thing stopping you is your imagination. Let your creative juices flow and treat this bank holiday as a first step towards a better relationship with yourself.
