Tinder has released a study that reveals Gen Z are challenging the way we date.

The world’s most popular dating app released its Future of Dating Report 2023 and revealed that 75% of Gen Z believe they are challenging the dating and relationship standards that were passed down to them.

Tinder’s COO, Faye Iosotaluno said: “In 2023, Tinder is largely used by Gen Z. This is a group that continues to influence society and challenge constrictive norms in the most profound of ways.

“No other generation has made such a huge impact on the workplace, retail consumption, technology, politics, and culture.

“It is this generation that we believe are driving the most change that we’ve ever seen in how we date, who we date and what dating actually is.”

The original Future of Dating report came out in 2021, which explored new dating trends following the pandemic.

The newly released second version is dubbed “A Renaissance in Dating, Driven by Authenticity”.

This year’s report highlights nine trends, built on three broad themes: Inclusivity, Technology and the overarching theme of Authenticity.

Mental well-being, honesty, respect and openness are all viewed to be key characteristics in Gen Z relationships, with 80% of 18-25-year-olds agreeing that their own self-care is a top priority, and 79% of people want their partner to do the same.

Paul Brunson, one of the world’s most famous matchmakers, has built his career working with the likes of Oprah Winfrey and hosting dating shows.

He reckons this is the very reason why Gen Z will have the best dating lives in the future.

“Gen Z will have the most successful marriages yet. Why? Because they’re investing in emotional well-being and clear communication.”
